Simple, isn’t it? A potato and orange salad. But for any recipe to be finger-licking, it’s best is to always count on the best raw ingredients. For this reason, we believe that you can make this salad between November and May.
You might ask yourself why. Well, the reason is simple. It’s when the oranges are at their best. At other times of the year, in summer, you can find oranges on the market. But they’re not Valencian ones. And there’s nothing can compare with oranges from Valencia.
And besides that, since we’re situated in the middle of the Font Roja and Serra de Mariola Natural Parks, we’ve got them really close at hand. As we’re from Alicante, we’re also Valencian and we can almost pick them ourselves straight from the tree.
After this ode to the Valencian orange, which we believe to be fully justified, we’re going to see how to prepare this really easy recipe. It’s ready in ten minutes and you’ll see how many vitamins you take in in no time at all.
- Half a kilo of boiled potatoes
- 3 Valencia oranges
- 1 Onion
- Ground pepper
- Masía El Altet Special Selection olive oil
- Peel and dice the cooked potatoes and the oranges
- Place them in a dish
- Chop up the onion and add it to the dish
- Season with the salt, pepper and extra virgin olive oil
We told you it was a really easy recipe. If you like, you can add olives to decorate. But, like any good salad, there are thousands of variations. It only depends on your imagination.
Well, with this as the main dish and which hasn’t taken more than ten minutes to prepare, you’re going to achieve a whole load of things.
For example, you’re going to take in a huge amount of Vitamin C, which is one of the vitamins which helps to fight all sorts of illnesses. It doesn’t cure a cold or flu as is commonly said, but it certainly helps to prevent them.
To this quantity of Vitamin C, you have to add all of the benefits which extra virgin olive oil has to offer. We’re not going to go into all of them again at length here. If you want to remember them, all you have to do is read this post again which we wrote on our blog.
By the way, this salad is ideal for people who are on a diet to lose weight because it contains very few calories. So you don’t have to worry. It’s one of the healthiest dishes you can find.
As you can see, we chose our Masía El Altet Special Selection. And we did so because it is produced one hundred per cent from the autochthonous variety of Changlot Real, in the same way that the oranges from Valencia are autochthonous. So, we’ve united the flavours from the Mediterranean in a single salad.
All that’s left for you to do now is enjoy it.
